Is this the missing piece to help you achieve your health goals?

End the pattern of yo-yo dieting with PSYCH-K®

Are you struggling to stick to a new way of eating or healthier life choices in general?

It can be very frustrating when you feel like you are doing all the right things to have a healthy life, yet you don’t seem to be making any progress.

When we strive to make changes to our habits and lifestyle choices the first obvious thing to do is follow a plan. That’s where all the various diets have come from. However, we are not all the same and there’s no such thing as one size fits all. So, one person’s way of eating may work really well for their body but not for you.

Not only do different foods suit different people but there’s another element that’s often not considered when it comes to creating change towards a healthier lifestyle – the role of our subconscious mind.

How does the subconscious affect my eating?

The subconscious mind is the part of your brain that’s running the show 95% of the time. It’s responsible for keeping you alive and safe.

It’s involved in regulating all the systems in your body. Your hormone levels, digestion, immune system activation, your breathing, everything really. But it’s also responsible for 95% of your thoughts/self-talk, how you act and react to things around you. It filters all
the information from your surroundings according to the rules and beliefs it has about the world.

What’s that got to do with your eating habits? I hear you ask.

The subconscious has one main job – to keep you safe and alive. As you can see from the list above it has a lot of things to keep an eye on. So, it creates subconscious habits based on rules and programs which it predominantly learnt from childhood.

When you were born, you had to quickly learn how to survive in the world. Our brains are wired in early life to absorb as much information as possible about what’s safe, what’s dangerous, how to fit in and what our role is within the society we grow up in. It also learns strategies to keep us safe from significant experiences we have.

As you can imagine, in our busy, modern world there’s a lot going on and things change very quickly. That means some of the programs and beliefs you took on as a child may be inaccurate, misinterpreted or no longer valid.

Things that happened when you were young, may not be an issue for you as an adult. However, the beliefs and rules your subconscious took on from that time are still running your life now.

The problem comes when those rules, those safety programs are a mismatch for what you want from life now. This shows up as things like:

  •    Procrastination about doing the things that get you where you want to be.
  •    Self-sabotage when you are trying to start new habits.
  •    Feeling blocks or resistance to creating life changes.
  •    Getting in your own way of achieving the results you really want.

Underlying all these things are unconscious beliefs you have in place. Outdated and limiting beliefs about the safety or possibility for you achieving your goals.

Examples of how your subconscious stops you changing eating habits.

A desire to feel a level of control:

Emily (not her real name) was aware she had an unhealthy relationship with food since she was a teenager, and digestion issues since her twenties. Her diet had become more and more restrictive. She researched a lot about what you should and shouldn’t eat, followed a fasting plan ate a limited range of foods and kept a rigid eating routine.

She knew it wasn’t sustainable or healthy long term. It was impacting her life as she struggled to eat out socially and had lost trust in her own body. She just didn’t know how to break the habit and relax her restrictions around food.

Through the PSYCH-K® Process she realised her relationship with food had come from a need to feel in control of something in her life and a way to deal with emotions. Her childhood had not been a happy one and she had a difficult relationship with both parents.

During the sessions she gently released the stress and events from her past. She changed some of the unhelpful beliefs she had taken on board at that time and installed new supportive ones.

Since then, she has been more relaxed about food. She’s eating a wider range of food without any negative impact in her digestion and feels more trusting in her body. Her thoughts about food are no longer all-consuming. She has also been able to come to peace with her parents and truly forgive them.

Expectations of becoming older:

Sometimes our beliefs come for comments made to us a child. Often not intended to harm us, but a throwaway comment we latched onto, or beliefs handed down through generations.

These can be things like

  • All women in our family are big-boned.
  • It’s hard to stay slim after the menopause, you have to really watch what you eat.
  • It’s rude not to finish your plate.
  • Aren’t you filling out – or words to that effect as our body shapes changes through puberty.

We can take on these comments as rules for life. Once we know the rules that are truly driving our choices and actions, it becomes clear why we might be getting in our own way of the health results and life we’re trying to achieve.

By changing these unhelpful beliefs at a subconscious level, you are removing the resistance to change. Suddenly your actions and choices become more easily aligned with the principles of intuitive eating because you’ve re-written the rules for you and your life, making choices that are truly right for you.

How PSYCH-K® helps release these blocks.

So how do you find out what limiting beliefs are stopping you achieve your health goals?

The simplest and fastest way is to ask your subconscious.

In essence that’s what we do with PSYCH-K®.  It’s a Process that allows you to have a conversation with your subconscious mind. Starting from a place of “What’s not working for you in your life right now?” and knowing what you want instead, we find out what beliefs or past events are causing your life to be the way it is.

The best part is then you install new beliefs that will help support you to achieve your goals. This is always done with you best and highest interests at heart. You will never create and install beliefs that aren’t appropriate for you.

If there has been anything stressful or traumatic in your past, you may never need to bring all the emotions up. If you do, the PSYCH-K® Process will have built you up first, so you are ready to release and let it go. People often comment on how quick, painless and calming the Process is.

Changing Your Beliefs, Changes Your Reality

When you hold the beliefs that what you want to create in your life is both safe and possible for you, every part of you is then aligned to achieve that. That means you will:

  •       Naturally make food choices that help you feel good and that you enjoy.
  •       Find the time to exercise and move your body in an enjoyable way, more regularly.
  •       Allow all foods to be a part of your life without stress or worry.
  •       Respond to your natural hunger and fullness cues with confidence and self-compassion.
  •       Find it easy to stick to your health goals, and feel more at ease and in flow with your body.
