Helping you break free from dieting, make peace with food and find your natural weight.
Hi there, Iโm รine, Iโm an intuitive eating counsellor and wellbeing coach based in the West Midlands. I discovered intuitive eating after many years of yoyo dieting, not trusting my body and trying my best to get my body to a weight and shape that it didnโt want to be.
I went from repeating the same cycle of diets which lead to emotional eating, binge eating episodes, hormonal imbalances, and a constant obsession about my weight, to making peace with food and being completely free from rules and restrictions.
I now truly enjoy food, and exercise because it makes me feel good, not to burn calories. I never choose foods because I โshouldโ or โshouldnโtโ, but because I now understand what feels good in my body, and as a result my body settles around itโs natural, set point weight, without me forcing it to be there. Learning and fully accepting that my natural weight was more than my mind wanted it to be, was a big step in my intuitive eating journey.

How to Let Go of Food Comparisons
In a world where food is often shared, photographed, and celebrated across social media platforms and in magazines, it’s easy
๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ท Let`s talk about why labelling food as "good" or "bad" isn`t serving us well. When we add these labels on food, it creates a divide, making us think certain foods are off-limits or guilt-inducing, affecting our relationship with eating and ourselves.
Here`s why moving away from food labelling can be a game-changer:
๐ธ No moral value: Food isn`t inherently good or bad. It`s not about the food itself but how we balance our choices. Veggies, pizza, chocolate - they can all be a part of a well-rounded diet ๐.
๐น Neutral territory: Whether it`s a biscuit or broccoli, no food is virtuous or sinful. Each bite doesn`t define our worth - it`s about balance and enjoyment ๐ค.
๐ธ Your plate, your choice: When we let go of judgment, we empower ourselves to make choices that truly suit our body and souls โค๏ธ.
Remember: food nourishes us physically and emotionally. So, let`s savour without guilt and embrace the delicious diversity on our plates! ๐๐๐ฅ

๐ Unlocking the truth about diets ๐ซ
When I say โdietingโ, this refers to the deliberate, and often temporary, modification of food intake and eating habits with the primary goal of achieving specific changes in body weight or size.
Here Iโm going to dive in to 4 reasons why dieting doesnโt workโฆ ๐
1๏ธโฃ Slows metabolism: Caloric restriction triggers the body to adapt by slowing down metabolism, as it tries to conserve energy.
2๏ธโฃ Unsustainable: Many diets can be extreme and restrictive, making them hard to maintain long-term. Once the diet ends, old habits often resurface, leading to regained weight.
3๏ธโฃ Effects hormones: Diets can disrupt hunger and fullness hormones like leptin and ghrelin, leading to increased cravings and reduced feelings of satisfaction, making it harder to stick to the diet.
4๏ธโฃ Moves us away from our natural weight. As I mentioned, the body responds to dieting by slowing down metabolism and increasing hunger signals. This adjustment is an attempt to regain the lost weight and return to the established set point weight range, which our bodies are always striving to maintain.
๐ Exciting News: I`m unlocking the secrets to breaking this cycle in my upcoming free webinar, `How to Break the Dieting Cycle. Stay tuned for details coming soon! ๐๐ป

๐ฝ๏ธ๐ Distinguishing hungerโฆ Physical vs. Emotional ๐๐ค

๐ณ Morning munchiesโฆlistening to your body`s clock โฐโจ
If you`re not hungry right away, itโs totally fine to wait until you are. Just keep an eye on your energy levels. If skipping breakfast leaves you feeling tired and reaching for sugary snacks later, it might be time to try having a little bite when you get up or a short while after. It`s all about finding your rhythm and works for you! ๐

โI`ve been there! When I was in the dieting cycle, I remember focusing on numbers from all anglesโฆ calories, grams, numbers on the scale and clothing sizes. Itโs so easy to get consumed by them, losing touch with our inner cues.
Focusing on how clothes made me feel, regardless of the size, was a big game changer for me, especially as sizing varies so much anyway, depending on where you shop ๐.
If youโre trying to build a positive relationship with your body and how you feel โค, then next time you go clothes shopping, Iโd highly recommend picking clothes without glancing at the size tag ๐ง. Take a few items of the one thing and try them on without a size preconception. Close your eyes even, feel the fabric, the fit and how it makes you feel.
This can be a great way to practice building a positive relationship with your body and what you wear, truly embracing how you feel, regardless of the number on the tag! ๐บ๐ซ
So whoโs up for it? Iโd love hear ๐ค

๐ Nighttime overeating might have more to it than you think! ๐ Here are two possible reasons why it happens:
1๏ธโฃ Emotions & eating: Have you ever noticed that connection? Maybe you reach for food when you`re experiencing a certain emotion. It could be boredom, stress or when you`re feeling tired. Maybe you`ve linked eating as a way to unwind after a long day?
2๏ธโฃ Daytime fuel: If you`ve been skimping on meals or not getting enough throughout the day, a primal hunger (which is a very natural response to scarcity or restriction) can hit hard when evening rolls around. Your body might be craving nutrients and energy that it`s lacking.
Understanding why we reach for those late-night snacks can help us address these habits more effectively ๐.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
